Jake grew up right outside Chicago and came to HOPES because he really enjoys supporting students academically as well as working with other service oriented people. During his Summer term, he loved seeing how HOPES operates both on-site and behind the scenes, which built a deeper appreciation for all the work that goes into making the programs run. Most of all, he values there is no typical day here and that he has the opportunity to work on various tasks and projects.
All of this interested him in wanting to have more of an impact on the behind-the-scenes work through our VISTA program. During his service year, he is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience with all aspects of this program and to lead projects that will benefit not only our program, but most importantly our students. As the VISTA Program Coordinator, Jake will be able to work on curriculum, ensuring all sites have essential materials for daily programming and support field trip planning.
In his spare time, Jake enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, volleyball, and the drums. We are excited to have Jake on our team and looking forward to all the fantastic work he will do!
