Volunteer Spotlight
Meet Chris Ziomek, one of our incredible volunteers who has been a steadfast supporter of HOPES through many program semesters. Chris grew up in Darien, a southwest suburb of Chicago, and pursued higher education at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and DePaul for his MBA. Now residing in Lincoln Park with his wife Gabby and their dog Remy, Chris enjoys an active lifestyle, often found outdoors training for triathlons. Currently, he’s embarking on a new adventure, preparing for his first 100-mile ultramarathon in November 2024. Outside of his training, Chris brings his energy and dedication to our community at HOPES, embodying the values and vision we hold dear.
Chris decided to volunteer with HOPES because he found a strong alignment with our purpose and values. For him, being a volunteer means consistently showing up and giving his best, regardless of life’s demands. This dedication not only benefits those he helps but also provides him with valuable perspectives and the joy of making a tangible impact. What keeps Chris motivated is his drive to be a better person and the thought that his efforts contribute to something greater than himself. His favorite memories with HOPES aren’t tied to a single event but rather to the small moments—students remembering his name, their excitement to be at the program, and the countless funny and kind things they say and do each week. We’re incredibly grateful for Chris’s continued dedication and the positive energy he brings to our community! |
