Program Update
Todd Stolarski: Program Administrator
Ready or not, HOPES is back! Come June 27th, we’ll begin our summer program of fun. During this perfect season to tour the great outdoors, our K-5 program will be taking a journey to explore nature and the wilderness. Through various books, activities, and enrichment partners, they will continue to discover the riches of the natural world around them. While the temperature continues to rise this June in Chicago, it’s become clear we’re heading for another hot time in the city. The same can be said for our Literacy Leaders program this month, too. They’ll begin their “Summer of STEAM: Applying the Scientific Method.” Over the next several weeks, they’ll be conducting multiple creative and fun experiments fusing science, technology, engineering, art, architecture, math, and music. In terms of field trips this summer, it’s all about the culture. To be more specific, taking visits to the buildings that house the historical, scientific, artistic, or culturally significant objects and items: museums! We’ll be heading to the Children’s Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, the DuSable Museum of African American History, and the Art Institute of Chicago. School’s out for summer, but HOPES is very much in.
