Program Report
Dajuan King, Program Director WOW! It has been a great summer thus far! As we enter the final weeks of programming, HOPES staff and volunteers are gearing up for more fun by planning end of summer parties with our participants! There are a few things that we are doing for the first time this summer. Within our programs, we have been doing more longer term projects that require scaffolded learning. In Ready Readers, our participants had the opportunity to build their ideal communities with LEGOS. In Literacy Leaders, the participants have the opportunity to build their own solar powered car. Our team worked hard putting together more hands-on enrichment activities for our participants, and it has been a joy seeing them express their creativity in new ways! On the family engagement front, field trips have been our BIG focus for the summer. We are pleased to report that we have been able to take 4 of our sites to the Waterpark, and it has been amazing! Also, we were able to continue our partnership with My Block, My Hood, My City and take some of our youth to participate in their Annual Downtown Day! We are hoping to continue the fun and end this summer with a blast! There are always so many exciting things happening here at HOPES, so if you have not had a chance to experience any of the summer fun, you can contact us to volunteer for the Fall semester IMMEDIATELY! |
