The Site Coordinator position is a great opportunity for anyone with experience in education, social work, or community development, looking to build their skill set. The Site Coordinator will serve as a liaison between Chicago HOPES for Kids and the shelter and is responsible for creating an environment where volunteers and students can connect and grow.

Site Coordinators commit to serving at a shelter in one of the following neighborhoods: Uptown, South Shore, Austin, Lakeview, Rogers Park, Englewood, Ashburn, and North Lawndale. Site Coordinators are also required to attend a two week training and bimonthly staff meetings at our West Loop office. 

Site Coordinator Duties

∙ Coordinate after-school programming for K-5 students at one shelter site

∙ Manage and support volunteers

∙ Handle classroom management and disciplinary issues

∙ Maintain communication among shelter staff, Chicago HOPES for Kids, volunteers, and parents

∙ Distribute registration forms, surveys, assessments, and information, as directed by the Program Manager

∙ Record and report student and volunteer attendance and progress to the Program Manager on a weekly basis

∙ Assist in the maintenance of HOPES supplies

Qualifications

  • Prior experience working with children a plus
  • Must be able to pass a background check
