Executive Director Report

My name is Rita Kahn, and I am happy to introduce myself to you as the Interim Executive Director of Chicago HOPES for Kids.  I have been the Development Manager of this amazing organization for three years now and I am excited to help lead this important organization into its next chapter.  Pat Rivera and I have built a wonderful partnership during my tenure at HOPES and I look forward to working with her as she takes on her new role of Founder/Volunteer.  She continues to be the STRONGEST of advocates for children experiencing homelessness in Chicago, and will continue to support the mission as she also takes time to care for her grandbabies.

Under Pat’s leadership, HOPES has made a difference in the lives of so many students, filled with potential, but facing the devastating impact of homelessness.  As we move forward, we will continuously seek ways reach more children residing in shelters with support and services that will enable educational achievement, emotional well-being and the building of self-confidence. We have our work cut out for us: housing discrimination, lack of affordable health care and the impact of domestic violence are ongoing problems that continue to fuel the growth of family homelessness.   I am immensely grateful to people like you, whose engagement and support make this work possible and our goals achievable. Thank you all for your commitment to helping Chicago’s most vulnerable children.

HOPES has some exciting fundraiser and volunteer appreciation events coming up that we hope you will join us for: Lagunita’s 80’s Trivia Night on Monday March 4th at Lagunitas Lounge and HOPES Second Annual Gala on Friday June 21st at Garfield Park Conservatory. These are great opportunities to network and collaborate in support of children experiencing homelessness in Chicago.  I hope to see you there!
