Volunteer registration for our after school program is currently CLOSED

Please visit our Summer Program page to volunteer with HOPES

Our after-school program is an opportunity to provide academic support, and build relationships with children K-5 who are experiencing homelessness. As an after-school volunteer you will empower students through learning, and have fun along the way! Volunteers assist in facilitating our easy-to-follow curriculum. The curriculum includes:

  • 40 minutes of homework help

  • 20 minutes of literacy support

  • 25 minutes of enrichment (a read aloud, paired with a corresponding activity)

Volunteers will work with 1 to 3 children at a time depending on the number of students at the site.

The program takes place in one of our partnering shelters for a designated two-hours, Monday-Thursday. We ask that volunteers select a site and consistent day of the week that they will volunteer for the entirety of the program semester. Through your commitment, you will build stronger relationships with the students we serve.

-Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or GED
-Must attend a two hour mandatory training session
-Must pass a background check
-Must be comfortable working with multiple students in an occasionally fast-paced environment
-Must commit to one tutoring session (1.5 -2 hours) per week for the duration of the semester
